Speaking Out About “Speaking Out”

How many times have you heard (or, more like, read in the crawl) about someone “speaking out”? Particularly if you watch national newscasts, you’ll hear (and see in the crawl)  about people “speaking out” about anything and everything.

Have you ever written a story using a phrase like “sending shockwaves throughout the community” or some similar phrase?
