BURR-lin or Ber-LIN?

Many Wisconsin radio and TV stations are reporting the Berlin School Board decided to stick with the nickname “Berlin Indians”, despite some pressure that it is a racist nickname. So: is it Ber-LIN, like the city in Germany for which it’s named; or, do the locals say “BURR-lin”? By the way, the city lies in both Green Lake and Waushara County. Waushara – another one of those Wisconsin place-names that can easily be mispronounced by someone not familiar with the city or county of Waushara.  You never have to guess, because you can quickly check the pronunciation of any Wisconsin place-name in the special section of the WBA Newsroom website devoted to making you sound like a local.
