I’ll admit it’s a pet peeve; news people who don’t know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Particularly when they’re called on it, and push back with “well it’s never wrong to honor the troops.”
Or the mindless happy-talk that serves as a buffer to the next segment, wishing the viewers (or listeners) a “happy” Memorial Day.
The incoming executive director of the RTDNA, a veteran newsman himself, has some post-Memorial-Day thoughts on an all-too-common faux pas.
