Strehlow to step down from weekday anchor role at CBS 58

After more than four decades in television news, veteran Milwaukee news anchor Mike Strehlow has announced his plan to “semi-retire” from CBS 58 (WDJT-TV).

Strehlow will step down from his role as anchor of the ‘CBS 58 News at Noon’ and the ‘CBS 58 News at 4’ at the end of this summer. His focus will turn solely to anchoring ‘CBS 58 Sunday Morning’ each week.

“With September marking the start of my 44th year in television news, I look forward to transitioning to a phased retirement where purpose meets leisure,” Strehlow said. “This new role will offer me the best of both worlds; continued meaningful work with my CBS 58 family and added quality time with my own family.”

“Mike is truly one of the nicest and most generous people you could know. His daily presence in the station will be missed,” said Anne Brown, VP and General Manager of CBS 58. “This is the best possible transition. Mike gets more time with his family, and we still have him as part of our Sunday mornings.”

Strehlow anchored the station’s very first newscast in March 1996. A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, he graduated from UW-La Crosse and has worked in multiple markets across the state. In 2014, he was inducted into the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences “Silver Circle,” which honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to their local television market for 25 years or more.

Viewers can continue watching Strehlow with co-anchor Amanda Porterfield on CBS 58 every weekday at Noon and 4 through this summer, and every weekend on ‘CBS 58 Sunday Morning’ at 7 a.m.
